This past Saturday was a gorgeous, sunny Spring day in Manhattan and turned into the happiest night of Lauren & Christopher’s new life together as the Karen Brown New York team successfully produced another gorgeous wedding at City Winery.
We’re no strangers to this fantastic SoHo venue, having executed a Rock ‘n’ Roll themed wedding there last July. We were also lucky enough to work with Illuminating Ceremonies’ celebrant Christopher Shelley for this wedding as well.
It started with a heartfelt, and at times hilarious, ceremony where good natured Canada jokes were told – a nod to the bride’s Toronto roots – and we learned how falling in love is like owning a dog, thanks to Lauren’s chosen reading by Taylor Mali.
Cocktail hour included passed hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails (Isaacs in Manhattan and the Gula Gimlet), and charcuterie and cheese stations provided by Murray’s Cheese. There was also a photo station with a Fujifilm instax camera that helped guests personalize their messages in the guestbook.
Once it was time for everyone to take their seats for dinner, Ivie Joy Floral Arts and Envelopper Ink added beautiful touches to the tables with their floral arrangements and custom escort cards, respectively.
Following a champagne toast, guests where served a delicious dinner with a choice of steak or chicken and listened to endearing speeches from Lauren and Christopher’s loved ones. Dinner ended with a refreshing olive-oil gelato, at which point the band Brit Pack took the stage.
The talented musicians of this group weren’t the only ones with a performance planned. The Father of the Bride jumped on stage and joined the group to play “I Feel Fine,” “Twist and Shout,” and “Satisfaction”, much to everyone’s delight.
To honor the Bride’s Jewish heritage the band also played “Hava Nagila” for the Hora. After the bride and groom were raised in chairs at the center of this festive circle dance, both of their parents participated in this fun bit of cultural celebration.
After a lot of dancing, it was time for cake. The Bride and Groom ceremoniously cut their miniature wedding cake from Tribeca Treats, and guests were invited to indulge in adorable cake cups – Red Velvet, Chocolate Salted Caramel, Smore’s, Lemon Raspberry and Key Lime Cheesecake – from The Bee’s Knees Baking Company.
More dancing and singing along with the band built up everyone’s appetites again. At 11 p.m., late-night snacks – including sliders and tomato-soup shots with grilled cheese garnishes – were served, and guests continued to party ‘til 1:30 a.m.
It was another City Winery success, and we can’t wait until the next one!
