Colorado Day – August 1!

Almost forgotten by many long-time Coloradans, and unknown by many transplants, August 1 is “Colorado Day.” On this day in 1876, Colorado became a state–thus the moniker “The Centennial State” since Colorado entered the Union in the centennial year of the United States Declaration of Independence.

If you’re at a loss on what to do to celebrate, our Denver based Business Development Manager, Lauren, has come up with a list of resources:

  • Plane Pull – supporting Special Olympics Colorado

Q&A with our Business Development Manager, Lauren

This past May we brought on Lauren Rush as our Business Development Manager in Denver and she’s been busy going to local industry events and meeting clients. We’re excited for you to get to know her a little better through our interview!

How did you get into Business Development for the wedding and event industry?

Lauren: I got connected through the fabulous Karen Brown. Both of us are Dallas girls with big hearts for travel and giving back! I knew it was a match made in heaven and immediately wanted to be a part of her team! After relocating to Denver, it only made sense for us to connect and see the spark KBNY could bring to the beautiful state of Colorado!

What do you feel are some important skills and qualities for developing business in a new market?

Lauren: You need 3 things: passion, persistence, and a positive attitude!

What do you feel are some of the challenges for developing business in a new market?

Lauren: Anytime you’re in the business of relationships, the biggest challenge is being patient and knowing it takes time to develop strong connections.

What brings you the most joy and excitement about being part of the wedding and event industry?

Lauren: I love celebrations! Whether it’s a birthday, company party, or a bride’s big day, I love connecting with people and helping their visions become reality!

What are some of your favorite places to grab a drink or bite to eat in Denver?

Lauren: Dad and Dudes. I have a soft spot in my heart for this place because they serve the most incredible gluten free pizza and serve their shots on a ski! How fun is that!?!

What do you do for fun in Denver?

Lauren: Denver has so much to offer. Some of my favorite festivities for letting loose include; concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheater, volleyball at Wash Park, weekend hiking trips, and I’m hoping to soon add snowboarding to the list come Winter!

We’re Expanding!

We’re so excited to announce that we’re expanding to DENVER!

I have always loved the Mile-High City but have fallen in love with it even more over the last couple of years, ever since the Association of Bridal Consultants conference took me back there in 2012.

The idea to expand into the region began to solidify after working on the Peridance Bazaar with our Denver based client who owns American Down & Feather. We began discussing and brainstorming ideas for events we could do for his company there and I was more than on board! Since I already have a solid network of friends and acquaintances that live there, the decision to increase business beyond this one event was easy.

We have started to build our team, bringing Kathryn Moise, our Lead Planner/Event Manager on board in NYC back in March, and Lauren Rush, our Business Development Manager in Denver this month. We’ll also be looking for day-of assistants in the Denver area so if you’re someone looking for freelance work, please be in touch! We will be doing the same type of events as we do here in New York; marriage proposals, weddings, social and corporate events.
