5% Goes to Kiva Loans!

We loved being part of Lisa and Tom’s Long Island wedding at Old Bethpage Restoration Village on June 14!  In addition to giving their 5% donation to Kiva, they decided that in lieu of wedding favors they would give back even more to the organization. How inspiring is that?! It’s another Event that Gives Back!

An excerpt from the Kiva website:

“We are a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.”

“100% of every dollar you lend on Kiva goes directly towards funding loans; Kiva does not take a cut. Furthermore, Kiva does not charge interest to our Field Partners, who administer the loans. Kiva is primarily funded through the support of lenders making optional donations. We also raise funds through grants, corporate sponsors, and foundations.”

Old Bethpage Restoration Village Wedding!

We could not have asked for more perfect weather for last Saturday’s wedding at Old Bethpage Restoration Village, especially after the torrential downpour that blew through Long Island the night before.

The venue is a hidden gem in Long Island set on a farm of 7 acres which engages in sustainable, organic agricultural principles, making the farm’s produce available to the public. This location was the perfect setting for our farm-to-table theme and we had the pleasure of working with some fantastic vendors who really brought their creativity to the table to make it a spectacular occasion!

Here are some behind the scene shots during set up:

The gorgeous flower arrangements and centerpieces were by Nicolette Owen:

Catering was provided by Night Kitchen:

The bride & groom chose to do a small wedding cake from Erga Francesco’s Italian-American Bakery in Bethpage with a black bear as their cake topper!
